CANDLE CARE & SAFETY
Wolfgang & Isabella uses only 100% natural soy wax for our candles as it is sustainable, burns slowly, is clean burning, and holds the scent until the candle is finished. Since many of our customers return their jars for recycling, we notice how you burn and keep your candles. Based on our findings, below are some tips to help you extend the life and the beauty of your Wolfgang & Isabella luxe soy candles.
FOLLOWING THESE TIPS WILL HELP TO EXTEND THE LIFE & BEAUTY OF YOUR CANDLE:
The first time you burn your candle, please allow it to burn 2-3 hours, or until the top surface is liquid wax (all the way to the edges). Wax has "memory," so, this will help it to burn more slowly and evenly in the future, and not leave a 'tunnel' going down the center.
When burning after the initial burn, try and burn for a minimum of 45 minutes and no longer than 3 hours.
For optimum results and longest burn time, trim the wick to 1/4" length, removing any 'bloom' from the previous burn. This will allow your candle to burn more slowly and also to avoid smoke.
Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. These signs indicate the candle is not burning properly, and the flame isn't controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before re-lighting.
To extinguish your candle without smoke, we recommend you dip the burning wick into the wax that pools when burning. There are various types of candle dippers you can purchase, or even household items such as a pencil can be used for this. Using your tool, push the candle wick into the small pool of wax that forms beneath the flame. The hot wax will immediately put out the flame without emitting any smoke. Use your dipper tool to then pull the wick back out of the wax. This method also helps prepare your wick for the next use.
CANDLE BEAUTY: If soot or darkness does form on the inside of the jar, extinguish candle, wait for it to cool, and then wipe with a damp cloth. Trim wick and re-light.
Always burn your candle on a heat-safe surface. Never place your candle on a cold surface like glass or marble as it may cause the glass to crack. Always burn your candle on a level, heat resistant, nonflammable surface away from fabric and curtains.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and be sure to keep it in view at all times.
To preserve the color, fragrance, and quality of our soy candles, keep out of heat and direct sun.
